A medieval myth brought back to life through digital sculpting and animation.
Hydrus is a digital animation developed for An Ecology of Beasts, a contemporary bestiary featuring reinterpretations of mythical medieval creatures. This water snake is depicted in diaphonized form -a chemical preservation technique rendering a specimen’s soft tissues transparent while highlighting bones and cartilage.


→ An Ecology of Beasts was curated by Common Index, designed by Sole° Studio and exhibited at TXT Studio (Milan, Italy) in January 2026.
→ An Ecology of Beasts was exhibited again at BASE Milano as part of HELLO, DARKNESS during Milan Design Week 2026.
